About
Having lived and worked in the Alps, we've had our share of falls on icy streets. Years later when dealing with a tyre chain manufacturer we realised the same traction principles could be applied to footwear - painful slips on winter ice could be avoided...
We made it our mission to source and test the widest range of winter traction products and in doing so have tested over 100 products. We have an unrivalled expertise and are able to offer advice to ensure you choose the most appropriate ice grips, shoe chains, ice cleats and ice spike products for your winter activities, interests and lifestyle.
We tend to live in denial of the weather in the UK - probably because it changes so often! We live at a latitude where we can have severe winters - never mind the big freeze of 2009-2010, remember the severe winters of 1963, 1970, 1985 and 2005? No? That's probably because they weren't bad everywhere at once. But in these years most areas of the UK had significant snow and ice sometime over the winter. The traction footwear devices we sell are commonly used in Canada, USA, Scandinavia and Continental Europe. In addition to members of the general public, they are widely used by the armed forces, emergency services, postal companies and many other organisations with large numbers of outdoor professionals and workers.
