Additional Info & Product Updates:
Information in this section has been added as a result of customer feedback:

  1. Diamond Grip are made from untreated case hardened steel, although this prolongs the shape of the diamond bead assemblies to maintain grip, it can lead to oxidation. We recommend following manufacturers care instructions - leave them to air dry after use. Customers report spraying them with WD40 at the beginning and end of each winter season also helps to reduce any rusting.

  2. The rubber sling which attaches the product to the footwear has reduced stretch on the SMALL size. We recommend SMALL is not ordered for standard footwear above UK size 3 EU 36.

All our UK postage options are ‘flat fee’ - whether you are ordering one or several products, you only pay a single postage charge - the more you order, the better value!

  1. Update to earlier post Review by Truro Bureua

See my earlier review for immediate impressions. I've now been wearing Ice Trekkers for 3 months now. They've been tested in every conceivable condition and they've performed very, very well. From ice to snow to cleared roads, I felt safe and sound the whole time and haven't even slipped, never mind fallen over.
Two points to consider, however. I wish I'd taken the company's advice and treated them with WD40 before use. They rusted very quickly. This didn't affect the performance but meant I traipsed rusty water everywhere. Also, mine broke on the heel after about 6 weeks and I had to order a new pair. I think this might be due to me pulling them on and off several times a day, 7 days a week. My husband's pair are still going strong - he fitted them to a pair of boots and changes into them when he goes outside. If you're going to wear them every day ( or thereabouts) then I think that's the way to go. (Posted on 13/03/2016)

I wore these Ice Grippers for the first time today in the Cumbrian Fells. It's been snowing on all the tops lately and they are all white. On starting the climb the paths were very slippery and solid and as I got higher, the worse they became. I put these on and I have to say, I'm impressed. They are really very good on icy surfaces where it has snowed on top of grass, rock, loose scree etc and then frozen. I held my footing on various terrain and they didn't let me down. I was able to enjoy my walking without being too apprehensive. I was a bit wary on rocks but to my amazment, they held up well. I was also able to go from these conditions to patches where there was no snow without taking them on and off and they performed brilliantly. Getting them on whilst en-route was a bit of a challenge but once on and fixed in place, they didn't move at all. You have to make sure they are centred in the middle of your boot sole and heel and make sure they are taught and not slack. Getting the right size is important here. I'm a size 8.5 and the Medium fits my boots perfectly. After wearing, I washed in a little soapy water, rinsed well and hung up in a warm room to dry thoroughly. Doing this will, I'm sure prolong the life of them. Overall, I've very pleased and will continue to put them in my rucksack during all winter walks. I think they are a little pricey, but now I've worn them I'm convinced it's a small price to pay for keeping one's bones intact. I shall be buying my husband some of these very soon. 4. Robust Review by Docmouse

The grippers feel substantial. They require a bit of manoeuvring to get the chains in the right place on the boot sole. They are excellent on icy tracks but if there is snow it builds up on the heels. This is annoying but would not stop me using them. It may be that the grippers are not at their maximum "tightness" on my boots. Time will tell if they last longer than less substantial types of grippers. They have the same potential problem as other types in that there aren't fastenings so you put them on by stretching the rubber straps holding the chains. This seems to me to be the weak spot. I often go fell walking and have tried various products to improve safety in icy conditions. The icegrippers actually work and do the job!! They are also good in slush or on clear surfaces so don't need to be taken on and off during the day. Highly recommended, thank you. (Posted on 12/02/2016)

Rate this product as I have a long walk each morning to work shown a very steep and often icy hill. I couldn't be more pleased. This is a well designed and made product which does what it says. Tested it on sheet ice on a downward slope and it gripped perfectly. Would strongly recommend. Also have to say that communication with ICEGRIPPER has been nothing short of excellent, particularly in helping to sort out a postal difficulty not of their making. (Posted on 02/02/2016)

I am currently on assignment in Kazakhstan; -20 with plenty of snow and ice on the ground. Have only had the chance to wear them a couple of times but I was able to walk comfortably and normally on both snow and ice. I also needed to cross roads which were cleared and get on a bus for a short trip. I kept them on the whole time without any difficulties, time will tell how this affects the trekkers though. One of the problems here is thin ice and thick, glassy, compacted ice but the trekkers have not yet been tested on these conditions. I'll post another review later when I see how they fare. But so far, so good. (Posted on 04/01/2016)

I went from being a 'scaredy cat' walking on ice and snow to literally striding confidently. They are equally effective on snow, ice or even black ice and icy patches. They have taken away my dread of slippery winter pavements. One day last year, due to some particularly icy pavements most people were walking on the road and dodging cars, while I stuck to the pavement, the grip of the icetrekkers being so good. Money very well spent. Thanks! (Posted on 16/12/2015)

The Product is very well made. When the weather changes ----I suspect early January----I will be very happy to try the product on my boots. I bought these after I had slipped in the snow and broken my wrist (hence the title). Of course, since they arrived (very quickly) the weather has not been icy. However, as I felt very unsteady when walking in the fields with my dog, I put them on my willies and they have been there ever since. They are ideal for muddy fields and have been no problem walking the half mile each way on the pavements to get there. I would advise caution when stepping on smooth-surfaced manhole covers - this is the only time I have noticed a slightly unstable sensation (but this was on a steep hill). Although I have not used them yet on the ice and snow, from the use I have had with them, I am certain they will be ideal. I'm hiking in the Pyrenees soon and these will definitely be coming with me. Robust, dependable and, although a lot more expensive than the others, well worth the money. Recommended. (Posted on 02/03/2015)

I bought these to give me good grip on icy walking surfaces, have tried them out twice so far in icy/frozen snow conditions, and felt much safer when walking. Especially after recently breaking an arm on ice! The medium size is a good secure fit on my trainers and walking boots ranging in size f rom 5 to 6.5 - they do need firm pulling to put on, but stay on well once on. I find these Icetrekkers to be much better than cheap alternatives I have tried before! (Posted on 02/03/2015)

Having used various makes of 'spiral wire' Ice Grippers for a few years now I found, on the few occasions I have used them since purchase, that the Diamond Grippers grip at least as well.
They are slightly easier to fit and appear more robust and therefore justify their purchase price in comparison to other makes.
It may be necessary, though, if the grippers do not fit tightly, to prevent the toe bands from slipping off by tying or clipping the top of the band to the boot lace holes. (Posted on 02/03/2015)

  23. 'Chained Up' in the Alps Review by Jacques
    Quality
    Price
    Value

We've had our first outings “chained up” and the Diamond Grips are proving worth their weight in gold. They really provide confidence in the extreme conditions we have in the Alps. Particularly appreciable is the fact that they grip on tarmac and pavements too e.g. car parks, stretches of road and pavement that have been cleared… Extreme caution is recommended however if you go into the paper shop, baker’s etc. as they usually have large tiles which are not the ideal surface for cleats or chains. (Anyway, the owners would not be very pleased if they took a look a close look at the edges to which their floors are being subjected!). My next plan is to try them out for running. My favourite circuit through nearby woods has several exposed passages where the snow and ice melt and freeze again making for a really treacherous surface. In the past, I've had to stop and circumvent them, or cross as if I were walking on eggs. I shall still treat them gingerly until I see what the ICEtrekkers can do. (Posted on 26/02/2015)

I came across Diamond Grippers when I was looking for a replacement for grippers that had fallen apart. I liked the fact that they can be used for surfaces other than ice and snow; a problem I had encountered with my last pair. They are quite expensive and quite difficult to get on the first time but I'm so glad that I bought them. They are perfect for dog walking, I can walk more naturally across icy stretches instead of inching, stiff legged wondering how far I can walk without falling over.
I did experience a build up of snow under my heels sometimes but it always cleared after a few steps.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this product. I did note the comments about rusting so I clean the grippers and spray with WD40 after each use. (Posted on 19/02/2015)

Before buying these, I hadn't been out in ice or snow for years, I have mobility problems that make me much more likely to slip, and the consequences of slipping much worse. I first tried these on slush, and I wasn't sure how good they were, until I tried walking on the same slush without them and was like Bambi on ice. I have since worn them on solid ice and very compacted snow and they were amazing! They grip so well that I didn't even slow down. They are pretty stiff to get on the first couple of times, but do get a bit easier, and on the plus side, there is no chance of them moving around or coming off. I seriously love these, they have given me winter freedom! (Posted on 17/02/2015)

I bought two pairs of these and have been very glad of them, both on an Arctic holiday and in the snowy and icy weather in the UK this winter. Unfortunately one of the pairs broke after a week of use - the rubber snapped. Carl was brilliant and replaced them immediately, free of charge. The other pair are fine and I think it was just a problem with that particular pair. Overall I would definitely recommend the product and was delighted with the customer service provided. I purchased these and the Kahtoola Micro Spikes for a holiday to Iceland in January. Having been before using the small studs on rubber (not from this company) that worked well but didn't last (rubber tore and spikes broke) I knew I would need something just a little more robust. This and the fact that I was taking my father who has problems with walking and balance, meant I had to choose wisely. I was not disappointed. The Diamond Grips worked wonders. My father got to walk in places he could never have managed before and it was so pleasing to see him out and about again. My wife also used these and was equally impressed - just mind shiny floors! In comparison to the micro spikes these allowed my father to shuffle, which was of benefit as the Microspikes grip hard and would have caused some difficulty for my father. These are more multi purpose than the micro spikes and can be worn in more situations. Very happy with my purchase. Service was great too and I can't praise enough the personal advice that I was given. (Posted on 24/01/2015)

I rarely write reviews for anything, but after experiencing a truly A* service from my new IceTrekkers diamond grip I felt compelled.

I bought these to run in after it had been snowing for a couple of days and did not want to risk a broken leg. They are pricey, but top of the market, and Yaxxtrax look almost laughable when you compare them to these for heavy duty wear.

So I tried them on and went on my first 13 mile run on ice, unsure of how the IceTrekkers would hold up. On pavement, thin ice, thicker ice (frozen puddles) and snow that had iced over, the product worked equally across them all. I have never felt so safe on ice, and I would highly recommend for everyone, whether you are a walker, runner or just want to avoid a fall - pay the extra £££ for an outstanding, MIRACULOUS, service !!!

Just be careful to wash and fully dry after use, as the product does corrode. (Posted on 31/12/2014)

Great service: Carl responded to all emails immediately, and shipping to Russia was super-fast.

The ICEtrekkers Diamond Grips are top-notch. I've tried other removable traction devices, but these are superior because 1) they are sturdier; 2) they fit very securely and do not move around at all 3) they work great on "transitional surfaces", i.e. non-snow/ice surfaces. The design is really simple and beautiful, and they are very well-made. I find them easy to put on and take off. (Posted on 15/01/2014)

Used the grippers in Arctic Circle Norway in November - did exactly what they should by providing an anti-slip surface for my boots in snow, slush and ice. Carl at ICEGRIPPER was really helpful with advice and did a fantastic job getting them to us in super quick time (wrapping them himself and taking to the post office for express delivery!) when I found the popular brand of grippers which we had already purchased from elsewhere were not going to be up to the job. You do need to be strong to fit them onto boots, however. (Posted on 24/11/2013)
